The number one reason women avoid the weights section of the gym is the fear of getting bulky. And honestly, it makes sense — we have been fed that narrative for years. Light weights, high reps, toning classes. As if picking up something heavy would turn us into a completely different person overnight.


Why women do not bulk up from lifting

Building significant muscle mass requires a very specific combination of factors — high calorie intake, very high training volume and in many cases, hormonal advantages that women simply do not have to the same degree as men. Testosterone plays a huge role in muscle hypertrophy, and women have significantly lower levels of it.

What lifting weights actually does for women is create a lean, strong, defined physique. The kind that looks and feels incredible. More muscle means a higher resting metabolism, better posture, stronger bones and improved insulin sensitivity — which is particularly important for women with PCOS.


What happens in the first 12 weeks

Weeks 1 to 4: Your nervous system adapts. You get stronger without much visible change, & that is completely normal.
